White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday that layoffs of federal workers will be coming if Democrats in Congress don’t avert a government shutdown by Tuesday. “There will be if Democrats don’t keep the government open,” Leavitt said, according to The Hill, when asked if layoffs will occur as a result of a shutdown. “President Trump has once again agreed to a meeting in the Oval Office. “We are resolute in our determination to avoid a government shutdown and address the Republican healthcare crisis. Time is running out.”On Monday morning, Leavitt told reporters that there’s “nothing to negotiate when you have a clean” continuing resolution.
