The controls allow parents and teens to link their accounts with mutual consent. The rollout comes amid intensifying scrutiny of how AI systems interact with minors. Meta recently announced additional restrictions intended to prevent its AI features from engaging in romantic conversations with minors or discussing self-harm and suicide. OpenAI has acknowledged that guardrails can degrade during very long, emotionally complex chats and has pledged improvements to how sensitive conversations are routed and handled.
