Danish authorities announced a temporary ban on civilian drones to coincide with this week’s European Union Summit following last week’s unidentified drone incursions that shut down multiple airports in the country. Those unidentified incursions occurred after several other Eastern European countries identified Russian incursions into their airspace. Therefore, from Monday to Friday, we will close Danish airspace to all civilian drone flights. It is designed to ease the burden on law enforcement in identifying drones when European leaders meet in Copenhagen on Wednesday and Thursday. The purpose of the ban on civilian drone flights is, among other things, to simplify security work for the police, so that the police do not have to use forces on civilian drones without security and police relevance,” Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard said.
