Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) responded to a question about President Donald Trump's decision to deploy National Guard troops to another city.
(AP Photo/Mariam Zuhaib) APSenate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is facing scrutiny on social media over his response to President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to the city of Portland.
The state of Oregon and the city have since sued the Trump administration to block the federalization of the National Guard, arguing that the move is an unconstitutional abuse of power.
suggested that the president will attempt to push Democrats toward accepting a GOP plan, without the extension of the soon-to-expire Obamacare tax credits that Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries are proposing.
Trump deployed National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., in August, and has threatened to do the same in a number of cities with Democratic mayors, including Chicago and Baltimore.
