A 6-year-old child was found unharmed after a Hackensack man allegedly choked a person and threatened to kill the person with a knife inside an apartment where guns were later seized, authorities said.
Kevin M. Lovett, 50, was arrested Saturday night on assault and weapons charges after police and SWAT team members forced their way into his apartment, city police said.
Officers were called to the building around 8:40 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that a person had been choked by Lovett.
Police were told that Lovett, the child and a gun were still inside the apartment, and that Lovett had threatened harm with a knife.
Lovett was charged with second-degree aggravated assault by strangulation, two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and third-degree child abuse and related offenses.
