Separate facilities must exist for both boys and girls as the revised guidance also states that schools can provide gender neutral toilets. Schools were previously told that transgender pupils could use the toilets they felt most comfortable in. Issued today, the guidance states: "Separate toilet facilities for boys and girls must be provided in schools. Schools are also required to provide accessible facilities for young people with a disability. "As the law stands, the facilities require to be made available on the basis of biological sex."
