The Lockheed Martin helicopter company Sikorsky, which is based in Stratford, has been awarded a government contract worth up to $10.855 billion. It’s from the U.S. Navy to build up to a maximum of 99 CH-53K King Stallion helicopters. The helicopters will be delivered over a period of five years from 2029 through 2034 for use by the U.S. Marine Corps. Under previous contracts, Sikorsky has delivered 20 CH-53K helicopters to the Marine Corps and an additional 63 of the helicopters are in various stages of production and assembly. In all, Sikorsky will have supplied 200 of the CH-53K aircraft to the Marines once all of the current contracts have been fulfilled.
