KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Common Council race in Ward 9 will feature incumbent Democrat Michele Hirsch facing former mayoral and Ward-9 candidate Scott Denny, a registered Democrat running on the Kingston United party line. Hirsch, who has served three terms representing Ward 9, will appear on the Democratic and Working Families lines. Hirsch said she’s running “to continue working towards an affordable Kingston for all.”Hirsch said affordable housing is a key priority for the city. Denny, a 1979 Graduate of Coleman High School, is married to retired nurse Jana M. Denny and has two adult children. Denny formerly worked as the General Manager of the Ulster County SPCA and later worked at an area auto dealer as a sales representative, finance manager, sales manager, general sales manager and general manager.
