A 43-year-old man has gone on trial for allegedly raping his former partner in a public toilet.
The Libyan man, who cannot be named by court order, is accused of committing non-consensual sexual acts on his partner, holding her against her will, slightly injuring her, and threatening her.
The case allegedly happened on February 3, 2003 at a time when the victim was pregnant with their child.
The pair were walking in Żejtun when he grabbed her, pushed her into a public toilet and locked themselves inside.
He then assaulted her and threatened to kill her before raping her twice, prosecutors allege.
