With the tournament’s outcome hinged on the final hole, it came down to the match between Russell Henley of the U.S. and Europe’s Shane Lowry. After Henley found the bunker off the tee, he produced an incredible recovery shot that left him with a makeable birdie chance. Henley missed his putt, and Lowry rolled his in to secure a half point, lifting Europe to 14 points—enough to retain the Ryder Cup in the event of a 14-14 draw. Additional halved matches—Tyrrell Hatton against Collin Morikawa, and Sam Burns against Robert MacIntyre—ultimately pushed Europe to seal the 15-13 victory.
