Aldermen approve rezoning of lot at corner of South Canal and Madison streets Published 10:01 am Monday, September 29, 2025Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...NATCHEZ — The Natchez Mayor and Board of Aldermen have rezoned a city lot at the corner of Canal and Madison street from R-3 residential high density to B-2 business high density in the city’s downtown historic district. Mingo Tingle, city planner, said the property — 513 S. Canal St. — consists of less than half and acre corner lot with frontage on three streets — South Canal, Madison and Maple streets. Tingle said the city’s planning staff and the planning commission recommended rezoning the property to B-2 HD to resolve the zoning conflicts and facilitate subdivision. Aldermen must approve all rezoning decisions. It should have been done before now.”The aldermen voted unanimously to approve the rezoning of the lot and building.
