ABC has ordered “RJ Decker” (working title), based on the Carl Hiaasen novel “Double Whammy,” to series for the 2025-2026 season.
The show was originally ordered to pilot at the broadcaster back in May, with Scott Speedman joining in the lead role in June.
Weruche Opia had been cast in the role of Shay Bennett for the pilot, but the role will now be recast.
This marks the latest attempt to adapt a Hiaasen novel for television in recent years.
Apple TV+ currently has the series “Bad Monkey” starring Vince Vaughn from Bill Lawrence, based on Hiaasen’s novel of the same name.
