Playing Bruce Springsteen in the new biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” Jeremy Allen White joins a list of A-list actors who have recently taken on the roles of rock music icons, from Timothée Chalamet portraying Bob Dylan to Austin Butler embodying Elvis Presley to Rami Malek rocking out as Freddie Mercury. “I didn’t talk to Austin [Butler], I didn’t talk to Rami [Malek], I didn’t talk to Timothée [Chalamet]. And sometimes I wish I had, but my process was a little different because I had Bruce,” White told Variety on the red carpet at New York Film Festival. For the film, White learned how to sing like Springsteen, who was involved in the making of the film and visited the set on multiple occasions. “A lot of what I learned from Bruce was in his actions and the way he moves through the world,” White said on the red carpet.
