Morocco’s youth-led “GenZ212” movement announced Monday fresh protests, calling for demonstrators to gather at 6 p.m., with exact meeting points revealed just two hours before to avoid security forces crackdown. The protests will take place in 10 cities, namely Rabat’s Bab El Had Square, Casablanca’s Drab Ghallef flea market, and Tangier’s Place des Nations. The decentralized group, born online and powered by TikTok and Discord, urged supporters in a social media post to head to the nearest city and share information widely. In a second statement, the movement warned participants against following “leftist currents” or “Islamist groups” calling for violence. Videos of the arrests spread across social media, triggering outrage among Moroccans and the international community.
