The committee has recommended that the government urgently consider and implement changes to the Rural Fire Service Queensland to address cultural and organisational issues surrounding volunteers, and Mr Choveaux would like to see the government put in place an independent rural fire service, advocated for as far back as 2020, administered by a board made of brigade volunteers, with access to a separate budget.
