Douyin Group, TikTok’s China sibling, has said it fired 88 workers in the first half of this year for violating anti-fraud rules, and that another 17 employees were reported to the judicial authorities for suspected criminal offenses.
Most of the sacked employees belonged to the short video platform’s e-commerce and local life service units, according to a post on Douyin’s official WeChat account.
Such anti-fraud movements are common in China’s tech sector, with the firms regularly reporting the results to the public.
Douyin said it always maintained a “zero-tolerance” attitude toward fraudulent actions, and would never hire employees involved in such cases.
