Meituan announced eight initiatives to improve conditions for its delivery riders, including replacing penalties for late delivery with positive incentives by the end of 2025, according to a post on its official WeChat account. Riders will undergo training and earn points instead of receive fines for delayed deliveries, Meituan said. The penalty-to-points shift has reached 80 cities already, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, covering all Meituan Express riders.
