Chinese auto giants Geely and Dongfeng are set to become the first in the industry to integrate DeepSeek’s artificial intelligence models with their in-vehicle information and entertainment systems for their respective Zeekr and Voyah electric vehicle models, hoping to benefit from the booming AI trend. Dongfeng-owned Voyah said on Friday owners will have access to the constantly growing AI database in its latest Zhiyin electric crossovers via over-the-air updates starting Feb. 14, making it the first production model that will support the latest version of the home-grown AI startup. Zeekr vice president Jiang Jun said the move would enable Zeekr cars to provide information to users and connect to vehicle controls in a more personalized and proactive way. DeepSeek, a startup based in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou, where Geely is also headquartered, last month launched an AI chatbot built upon a competitive large language model that it says had been developed at a fraction of the cost of existing services.
