Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com is accelerating its offline expansion with the launch of its biggest brick-and-mortar retail complex to date, a 750,000-square-foot smart mall in southern Beijing.
The new JD MALL, now in soft launch, is located in Fengtai District, a commercial zone about 30 minutes from Beijing’s city center.
The seven-floor complex blends digital and physical shopping, offering everything from electronics and home appliances to coffee bars and AR try-ons.
JD.com’s strategy echoes Amazon’s and Walmart’s push into omnichannel retail, but with its own unique twist: the mall doubles as a tech showroom and lifestyle hub.
The company plans to open dozens more across China, with a second Beijing location set to open in late May.
