The next-generation wireless standard, Wi-Fi 8, is expected to launch in 2028, Qualcomm China announced Monday.
Unlike previous generations that focused primarily on maximizing speed, Wi-Fi 8 centers on “ultra high reliability” as its core goal.
The standard is expected to support demanding use cases such as industrial automation, remote healthcare and holographic communication.
Currently, most consumers rely on Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6, which are widely used in smartphones, laptops and home routers to deliver fast and stable wireless connections.
