China sold 1.395 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) in August, a 26.8% increase from a year earlier, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Output reached 1.391 million units, up 27.4% year-on-year.
From January to August, NEV sales totaled 9.62 million, a 36.7% increase year-on-year.
Domestic sales accounted for 8.088 million units, while exports reached 1.532 million, nearly doubling from a year earlier.
Overall auto sales in China crossed 21.1 million in the first eight months of 2025, up 12.6% year-on-year.
