In an interview with PC Gamer, Phantom Blade Zero director Liang Qiwei said that the market is currently oversaturated with “Souls-like” games.
Phantom Blade Zero is neither a traditional Souls-like nor a conventional action game, Liang said.
The game aims to focus on fast, fluid martial arts combat as its core, pioneering a new subgenre: the “Kung Fu action game,” according to Liang.
A Souls-like game is a video game characterized by challenging combat, precise timing, and punishing difficulty, often inspired by the Dark Souls series.
Phantom Blade Zero, an action RPG from Beijing’s S-GAME Studio, is set to launch on PC and PlayStation 5.
