Momo, the Chinese location-based social app, said its registered users have reached 150 million as of today.
As of the end of June, there were 148 million registered accounts with 52.34 million monthly active users.
The higher the ranking, the more premium services a user can enjoy — It’s just like the membership rank system used by Tencent’s QQ IM and many other Chinese social services to encourage users to get more engaged.
Starting as an app for users to chat with strangers nearby, Momo has developed new features, such as interest-based group, to keep users around.
The company has been making revenues from membership fees, mobile gaming and advertising.
