Various government agencies led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday launched in Manila a caravan that will bring government services to people deprived of liberty (PDLs). During the launching of the first-ever Pag-asa Expo: Katarungan at Serbisyo (Service and Justice) Caravan at the Manila City Jail in Sta. Cruz, Manila, DILG Undersecretary Serafin Barretto Jr. said the initiative is part of the government’s duty to uphold justice and ensure compassionate service for all, including those behind bars. Together with private partners, the caravan mobilized several government agencies including DOLE, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and PAO. The DILG, together with its partner agencies, reaffirmed its commitment to continuously deliver vital services to PDLs, with plans to roll out the caravan to other parts of the country.
