Czech paddler Jakub Krejčí secured bronze in the kayak cross time trial at the World Championships in Penrith, Australia. In Monday’s opening race, he finished behind Spain’s David Llorente and Britain’s Joseph Clarke, earning the first medal for the Czech team. The 23-year-old lost 1.68 seconds to the winner and missed silver by just 0.56 seconds. Fellow Czech competitor Matyáš Novák finished fifth in the discipline, which also serves as a qualifier for Olympic kayak cross heats.
