The co-production film Franz, directed by Agnieszka Holland and produced by Šárka Cimbalová, took home four prizes at the 50th Gdynia Polish Film Festival, including the Silver Lion for Best Film, the Czech News Agency reported. German actor Idan Weiss won Best Actor for his portrayal of Franz Kafka, Polish cinematographer Tomasz Naumiuk was honored for outstanding cinematography, and Czech make-up artist Gabriela Poláková received the award for best make-up. The Kafka biopic was well received at the Toronto International Film Festival and was part of the main competition at the San Sebastián Film Festival, where it screened on September 22. More festival appearances are planned.
