The American College of Surgeons granted a Level 2 Adult Trauma Center verification to the division at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk earlier this month, enabling the site to treat all adult patients with any type of trauma injuries.
The recognition from the association affirms that the Suffolk Trauma Center’s surgeons, radiologists and advanced practice providers are capable of providing all-hours comprehensive care.
The trauma center was formerly ranked Level 3, limiting its treatment offerings to patients with “mild to moderate” injuries.
The hospital applied for a Level 2 verification with the ACS and New York State Department of Health in April 2024.
Marc Adler, senior vice president and chief of hospital operations at the Suffolk hospital, said that the verification is a “milestone” for the trauma center, serving as a recognition of staff’s dedication and allowing it to expand its healthcare services.
