The Ekiti State Government has approved contracts for the renovation of more than 250 public school projects as part of the 2024 Universal Basic Education Commission/State Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC/SUBEB) intervention programme.
Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, announced the development in a statement from Ado Ekiti on Saturday, confirming that contractors would soon move to sites.
He noted that the projects include the supply of thousands of new classroom furniture, underscoring the state’s commitment to improving learning environments.
He clarified that the affected building had already been slated for renovation under the 2024 UBEC/SUBEB programme and also proposed for inclusion in the 2025 Direct Intervention Funding scheme.
“Rainstorms are natural events, but the state has proactively enforced the use of high-gauge aluminium roofing sheets in all SUBEB projects over the past four years.
