Seneca, SC – Mary Elaine Lanford Barnett, age 90, wife of Dr. Alton Joseph Barnett, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, September 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 16, 1935, in Woodruff, South Carolina, Elaine was the daughter of the late Lamar and Mary Campbell Lanford. Elaine was a faithful and very active member of Walhalla Presbyterian Church, where her presence and service were deeply valued by her church family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Alton Joseph Barnett, and their children: Al Barnett (Andrea) of Westminster, SC; Bonnie Douberley (the late Bruce) of Walhalla, SC; Dr. Cynthia Nichols of Chapin, SC; and Dr. Dianne Steinbeck (Larry) of Canton, GA. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Trey Barnett (Cricket), Walt Barnett (Dr. Mary Ellen), Amber Hege, Dr. Nicole Workman (John), Dr. Nick Nichols (Shannon), Alli Woody (Eric), and Asher Steinbeck (Meredith); and nineteen great grandchildren.
