Emergency services were called at around 12.15pm on Saturday (August 16) following reports that a suspicious object had been located in Cowley Hill, Borehamwood. Residents were evacuated from their homes and left unable to return for hours as a 100m cordon was put in place by police. The object is being assessed by the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) unit, and police have launched an investigation into what happened. "Controlled explosions were then carried out and by 11pm the item was declared safe and removed from the scene. The investigation regarding the nature of the suspicious item is ongoing."
