Credit: WikicommonsBexar County Commissioners Tuesday approved a four-point resolution to promote healthy drinks and reduce the amount of sugary drinks sold in schools and at restaurants. Bexar County residents can also expect a public-relations campaign, as the resolution calls from partnering with state and local health departments to promote healthy beverages. The resolution was brought by Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, and it notes the challenges the county faces in educating the public about negative health effects brought on by excessive consumption of sugar. We’ve systematically reduced physical activity in our daily lives and removed it from most of our schools,” the resolution states. “Unhealthy foods are sold in larger portion sizes, and it is difficult for many families to buy healthy, affordable foods and beverages.
