Sylvia Rhone, who has changed the face of the music industry with career-defining roles, will step down as Chair/CEO of Epic Records, effective at the end of the month, Billboard has revealed. EBONY covered her first appointment at EPIC in 2014 when she was appointed president of the label. The appointment came a year after Rhone launched Vested in Culture (VIC), her joint venture with Epic. Rhone then reported to Epic Chairman/CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid and helped him supervise the overall management and operations of Epic. Rhone was appointed president of Universal Motown Records in 2004 and is credited with its successful rebranding.
