The Sanderson family from Northallerton are running the Great North Run and hosting fundraising events to support the Teenage Cancer Trust, in honour of 16-year-old Grace Sanderson, who died after being diagnosed with leukaemia in early 2022. Their next effort is the Great North Run on September 7, 2025, marking the family's first time taking part in the world’s largest half marathon. Grace, who was part of Great Smeaton Young Farmers Club, was supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust team at the Great North Children’s Hospital throughout her treatment. The family has set up a JustGiving page, ‘Teenage Cancer Trust: Great North Run 2025 for Grace’, to collect donations. The Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting young people with cancer aged 13 to 24.
