Post-war agricultural trophy repurposed and awarded to Durham dairy farmer
[]
The Northern Farmer | News
Durham Agricultural Discussion Society was created to bring farmers together with a view to increasing food production in the UK.
Many such groups have now fallen by the wayside, but the Durham group still meets over the winter months at Houghall Agricultural College.
The D&S Times, weekly sister paper of The Northern Farmer, donated a trophy in 1946 for an annual quiz between groups in Durham.
With the demise of groups over the years, the trophy has not been in use since 1979.
This year it has been awarded to Andrew Brass of Ox Close Farm, Shadforth, Durham.
