UNION COUNTY — While other agencies have recently reduced fire danger levels, Union County Emergency Services reminds residents that the county remains under regulated fire season guidelines. Opening burning is still prohibited under county ordinance 2024-02, officials said in a press release Saturday, Sept. 20, with the exception of regulated agricultural field burning. “Fire officials remind the public to remain cautious with all activities that could potentially spark a fire and appreciate the continued cooperation in preventing wildfires,” the press release read. The Northeast Oregon Department of Forestry also reduced fire danger to moderate, but fire season remains in effect for the lands it protects.
