Contractors working for North Somerset Council have started assembling at the site, with the work including restoring buildings and creating new facilities. “Work on the landside of the Birnbeck Pier project got underway this week. Finally, the work will include removing asbestos and repairing the sea wall and replacing broken railings and streetlights along Birkett Road. The future of the restoration work on the pier itself became uncertain after the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) pulled out of funding. The work on the pier itself is set to begin at the end of 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
