The town’s neighbourhood police said the arrest follows a number of incidents reported in Weston-super-Mare town centre over the past few days. The man was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Public Order Act 1986. A spokesperson for the Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Police are aware of ongoing concerns involving individuals within the street drinking community and continue to work closely with partner agencies to develop a long-term problem-solving approach. We remain committed to striking the right balance between offering diversionary support and taking robust enforcement action when necessary. “Where behaviour crosses the line into criminality, we will intervene, and those identified as ringleaders will be dealt with through the courts.”
