The Northern Farmer | News
For some of the children, it marks the first time they have seen a cow or sheep in the flesh.
The issue was raised at a recent meeting of Northumberland County Council.
The Conservative councillor said: “Every year the 135-year-old Glendale Agricultural Society hosts around 1,700 children at the highly successful Children’s Countryside Day.
“This annual event celebrates our local heritage and culture; engages the local community and showcases the rural diversification of the local area.
“Agriculture and rural industries are the essence of the Glendale community and of wider Northumberland.”
