CUMBERLAND [mdash] Thomas "Tom" James Cioni, 71, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at his home. Born November 11, 1953 in Cumberland, Md., Tom was the son of the late Richard J. Cioni, Sr. and Helen Marcella (Brennan) Cioni. Tom graduated from Allegany High School Class of 1971. Tom began working at the Cumberland Times-News right after school and retired in 2017 with 46 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish-Church of St. Patrick. He was a long-distance runner and enjoyed playing softball for years. Tom was also an avid reader especially nonfiction and loved reading on the history of Cumberland and had an amazing green thumb. He was incredibly generous and thoughtful, especially when it came to family and friends. Tom deeply valued his nieces and nephews, and their children. He was incredibly supportive and took time to care for his parents. Tom is survived by his sister, Marcia Mulligan and husband Gary; his brother, Richard "Rock" Cioni and wife Susan; his nieces and nephews, Brett Mulligan, Brenna Roland and husband Eric; Katrina Cioni, and Joe Cioni and wife Cate; as well as his great-nieces and nephews, Jason Roland, Kara Roland, Joseph Cioni, Samuel Cioni, and Tommy Cioni. Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. with Father Mark Carter, OFM Cap officiating. A private interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army 701 E 1st St, Cumberland, MD 21502.
