CUMBERLAND [mdash] Gary Walter Howser, 71, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at UPMC - Western Maryland, surrounded by his loving wife of 42 years, his sister, and family. Born June 10, 1954, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Robert and Maxine Howser. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Howser. Gary graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1973 where he excelled in football and track. He went on to achieve many years of education through the United States Postal Service where he worked for 43 years as an Electronic Technician, and retired in 2023. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Howser; sister, Maxine Winfield, and husband, Steve; sister-in-law, Kathryn Leonhardt, and fiancée, Ray Mashler; nephew, Bobby Howser; nieces, Amanda Winfield-Spiker, and husband, Brandon; Stephanie Pennington; and Suzzette Detrick; great nephews, Ayden Pennington, Connor Spiker, Dayton Spiker; and a great niece, Kinsley Pennington. Gary is also survived by his loving companion, Taj. A private service will be held; Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. is assisting the family. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Cumberland, MD.
