CUMBERLAND [mdash] Eleanor Ramona (Dolly) VanMeter Steward, 90, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at Cumberland Healthcare Center. Born April 20, 1935, in Cumberland, Ms. Steward was the daughter of the late Irad Dolly and Olive (Ash) Dolly. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Otha VanMeter; a son, Larry VanMeter; and several brothers. Eleanor was a graduate of Flintstone High School and retired from the Schwab Company. She loved having Sunday dinners with her family, playing bingo and going to Atlantic City with her friends. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Lonald "Lonnie" VanMeter and girlfriend Janna Lee, and Donald VanMeter and wife Sherry; a sister, Retha (Dolly) Twigg; her brothers, Nelson Dolly and wife Betsy; and Kenny Dolly and wife Angela; as well as her special grandchildren, Nicole and Heather (Chris); and numerous additional grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Per her request, she will be cremated and there will be no services, and she will be interred in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., is assisting the family.
