POTOMAC PARK [mdash] Allen "Curly" Dale Herrell Sr., 86, of Potomac Park, died Sept. 15, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland.
Born Aug. 20, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Earl Robert Herrell and Sylvia Lee (Jenkins) Herrell.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Herrell; and his second wife, Shirley Herrell; a stepson, Emory "Cricket" Thorne Jr; and 12 siblings.
Curly had been a bricklayer and worked through Bricklayers Local #6. He loved his work, and it showed in his 50 years of dedicated service.
He belonged to Glory House Ministries.
Curly belonged to the Allegany Beagle Club, having raised and finished some field champions. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Curly also enjoyed boxing and wrestling. He was a local coach for the Has Beens.
Survivors include his sons, Allen "Pete" D. Herrell Jr. and wife Michelle, and Kevin W. Herrell; stepson, Eddie Thorne and wife Becky; stepdaughter, Margaret Wagoner and husband Paul; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
At Curly's request, his body was donated to science. A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.

The family appreciates the kind, compassionate care provided by Lions Rehab Center and especially Sherry Beall, who he adored.
