A new taskforce has been established to improve the reliability of train services in Singapore. The move follows a succession of disruptions across the Asian city-state’s MRT network with as many as 15 incidents in three months. Lam promised commuters the operator will bolster SMRT’s rail system and accelerate asset renewal. The taskforce – comprising technical experts and rail operator executives – will identify infrastructure that needs replacing or upgrading and conduct technical audits of critical systems. “The taskforce will review service recovery processes with the view to reducing the impact of service delays to our commuters,” said the LTA in a statement.
