IBA, Zambales (PIA) — The Masinloc and Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape (MOBPLS) in Zambales has won first place in the Outstanding Locally Managed Marine Protected Area (MPA) category during the 2025 Para El Mar Awards held in Iloilo City. Meanwhile, Masinloc Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Donaver Guevarra said MOBPLS has become a model for integrated conservation and sustainable management. As part of the recognition, MOBPLS will receive P1 million worth of projects and activities for reef, seagrass, and mangrove enhancement, along with stronger enforcement and climate resiliency measures. The Para El Mar Awards are organized by the Marine Protected Areas Support Network to recognize outstanding practices in marine biodiversity conservation, effective management, and community participation nationwide. Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape in Sarangani province was named the Most Outstanding MPA, while Cuatro Islas Protected Landscape and Seascape in Leyte placed second.
