An alpaca farm in Pine Island is celebrating National Alpaca Farm Day by getting people an up-close look at the furry animals. (ABC 6 News) – Underneath the September sun, herds of Alpacas meandered their way around, munching on hay as people from across the Pine Island area watched up close. Sunday, September 28, was National Alpaca Farm Day, and owners of Homestead Arts Farm, Lori and Mark Grimes, opened their doors, inviting people to participate in alpaca-themed games and crafts while learning more about the furry creatures. “They’re an important part of the fiber industry in this country,” Lori Grimes said. 2025 is the fourth year Homestead Arts Farm hosted an event for National Alpaca Farm Day and with several hundred people in attendance, Lori Grimes said it continues to grow each year.
