Greenland - John Peter Palleo, age 72, of Greenland, NH, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on February 6, 1953 in Malden, MA, to the late Peter and Alice (Fitzpatrick) Palleo, John was raised and educated in Melrose, MA, where he excelled as a basketball player and won many accolades. He earned a double bachelor's degree from UMass Amherst and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. In 1984, John married his best friend and true love Susan Lemoine and they moved to Plaistow, NH to raise their family. John was devoted to Susan and their three children, and always put them first. His greatest joy in life was being a husband, father, and "Papa" to his grandsons. John loved being outdoors, puttering around his yard, and enjoying life with family at Seabrook Beach. He had a special talent for woodworking and spent many hours in his workshop. John had a long career as a manufacturing engineer with Honeywell, Apollo, Hewlett-Packard, and Philips Healthcare. He retired from Philips in 2018. He always looked forward to his lunches with the Honeywell guys and spending time with his best buddy Charlie Sweeney. John had many lasting, cherished friendships with his colleagues. John loved history, learning about new cultures, and trying new foods; travel highlights included walking the Great Wall of China, enjoying too much limoncello in Italy, taking in the view from the Eiffel Tower, working in Singapore, and seeing The Alamo. Affectionately known as "Big John," he was incredibly affable and would strike up a conversation with anyone like they were a friend he just hadn't met yet, whether it be a server at The Tuckaway Tavern or the clerk at Cumby's. We will miss him forever and will never forget his generous spirit and gentle kindness. He is survived by his wife Susan; children Kristen Palleo and her husband David Crepeault of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Michael Palleo and his wife Allyson of Eliot, ME; Erika Palleo of York, ME; grandsons Jonah Crepeault and Theodore and Finnegan Palleo; brother Robert and his wife Sharon, sister Patricia, and brother Christopher; sisters-in-law Gail Lemoine, Maribeth Girard, and Judith Lemoine; brothers-in-law Kevin Lemoine and William Girard; nephews William and Daniel Lemoine, and many friends. Burial will be private. The family wishes to thank Cornerstone VNA Hospice for their warmth, care, and guidance.
