On September 19th, 2025 at 11:59 AM, La Porte County deputies responded to State Road 39 and CR 900 North, reference a crash involving a bicyclist and a commercial motor vehicle. A group of bicyclists were riding south on the shoulder of SR 39 approaching CR 900 North. A CMV (tractor-trailer combination) being operated by 64-year-old Charles E. Akemon of Demotte was traveling south on SR 39. The CMV moved to the left in a passing zone to overtake/pass the group of bicyclists. While doing so, one of the cyclists, 29-year-old Mason R. Anderson of Chicago, began making a left (east) turn onto CR 900 North.
