Hundreds were in attendance when chaos unfolded at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc. The suspect, a 40-year-old Burton man, was fatally shot after exchanging gunfire with Grand Blanc Township police. He said the church was in service, with hundreds inside, when the Burton man drove his vehicle through the front door. The man exited the vehicle, pulled out an assault rifle and started shooting, Renye said. “We are still trying to determine when and where that fire came from and how it got started,” Renye said.
