GENESEE COUNTY, MI – A conservation officer “acted without hesitation” the moment he engaged with a gunman during a church service, an attorney for law enforcement said. Multiple people were shot, including two who have died, Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township. The incident unfolded around 10:25 a.m. when a 40-year-old Burton man rammed his vehicle into the building before shooting inside. Marc Curtis, an attorney with Defender of the Blue law firm, told MLive on Sunday the DNR conservation officer involved is safe, but still concerned for the victims. “Acting to protect the congregation and prevent further loss of life, the officer engaged the suspect,” Curtis wrote in a text message exchange with MLive.
