Across McCandlish Road, the neighbor -- who asked not to be identified -- could see the fallout from the shooting and fire at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She told her son, “This was an attack on people, and that’s not OK,” she said. “We heard pop, pop, pop, pop,” said William Alexander, who’s lived in the usually quiet subdivision off Holly Road for more than a decade. “My wife said, ‘Somebody is shooting off fireworks.’ ”“The sirens (seemed like) they never stopped,” Alexander said. A neighbor told the couple about the aftermath of the chaos that came later.
